After their good results in the last 7 days, USC' Max de Vroome and California' Maegan Manasse are the Pac-12 Players of the week. Max de Vroome was honored for the second time in the last 4 weeks, following his results against California and Stanford.
The Trojans defeated Golden Bears by 4-2, with two triumphs for de Vroome. In doubles, he and Jack Jaede grabs the only win for the Trojans, and later on in the singles, Max bested Florian Lakat 5-7 6-2 6-1 to handle the deciding 4th point for the USC.
A day later, the Trojans were successful again versus Stanford, even though they lost the doubles point again. The Trojans recovered quickly, dominating on the singles courts and de Vroome added an important point on the court 1, beating 6th-ranked Tom Fawcett 6-3 7-5.
Maegan Manasse takes the award for the third time this season and for the second time in the last 3 weeks. Also, Manasse won it for the 5th time overall, and she is one of just 6 players in the conference with at least 5 awards.
Golden Bears are now on 36 Players of the week awards, one more than big rivals from USC. Maegan helped her team to beat Oregon and Stanford, improving to 17-0 this season. Against Oregon, Maegan Manasse/Denise Starr were close to beat Nia Rose/Alyssa Tobita before the match was abandoned at 5-2, and Maegan was the first to finish the singles duties when Alyssa Tobita retired after trailing 5-0 in the first set.
Cardinal were more difficult to beat, and Maegan Manasse/Denise Starr lost their match against 4th-ranked Taylor Davidson/Caroline Doyle. Nevertheless, the Golden Bears responded strongly in singles and Manasse added the deciding 4th point against Carol Zhao.
