The Atlantic 10 Conference has named VCU men’s tennis standout Michal Voscek its men’s Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Voscek is the second VCU student-athlete, joining his former teammate Max Wennakoski who earned the award in 2012-13.
He is the third men’s tennis player to win the award since 1990-91. The Slovak was named the 2016 Atlantic 10 Conference Most Outstanding Men’s Tennis Performer and was a four-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, including First Team citations in 2015 and 2016.
He compiled a 79-49 career singles record, including a 17-7 record as a senior and was 33-16 all-time as the No.1 Singles player. He also finished with a 54-45 career doubles mark, including 13-4 in 2015-16. Voscek cluminated his academic career with a perfect 4.0 GPA, majoring in Urban and Regional Planning at VCU.
He was a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete Winner, was awarded the prestigious A-10 Postgraduate Scholarship and the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He also earned VaSID Academic All-State recognition and was named to numerous Dean’s List and Honor Roll citations, including the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and the VCU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
Throughout his collegiate career, Voscek has been involved with SAAC and It’s On Us, along with organizations such as Meet the Rams: Make a Change and Lobs & Lessons. He is planning on attending graduate school at VCU.
