Talented Croatian Borna Gojo join the Wake Forest in January

Tony Bresky, Wake Forest Demon Deacons men's head coach, announced the signing of promising Croatian star Borna Gojo, who will join the team in January. 18-year-old from the Adriatic town of Split has established himself on both ITF and the ATP Tour, reaching the Top 150 on ITF junior list and the Top 850 in singles and Top 700 in doubles on the ATP rankings, which is very good for the future Collegiate player. Starting from 2013, Borna played in a lot of various junior tournaments (before that he had some notable results in the B16 and B14 categories), gathering experience required to compete on the professional Tour.

He made a nice progression and also had an easy transformation to the pro level, with 2 Futures semis in singles and 2 doubles titles. Back in May, Borna won Croatian junior Championships, and he is now ready to embrace a new challenge as a part of the Demon Deacon squad, which will open the spring campaign on January 14 against North Florida.

"Borna will be an outstanding representative to our program," Bresky said. "In addition to being an excellent student, Borna is an established high-level tennis player with strong pro results to back it up. He has high aspirations for his tennis and chose our program for that reason.

I expect Borna will make an immediate impact in our lineup this January in both singles and doubles. He has tremendous potential and we are excited to begin working with him."

"I'm very happy to have an opportunity to play for Wake Forest," Gojo said. "The first thing I looked for is a quality coaching staff and a great atmosphere and environment for improving my tennis.

I think Wake Forest has it all and to be honest, I can't wait to step on the court and give my all for the team, and I believe we will have a historic year."
