Switzerland won't have its best players for the tie against United States from 3 to 5 February in Birmingham on indoor hard-courts. There won't be Roger Federer nor Stan Wawrinka due to schedule reasons and other priorities.
Wawrinka had already said a month ago that for him it would have been difficult to play Davis Cup. 'My full calendar is not decided yet, but to be honest I don't think that I will play Davis Cup. It will be very difficult to do it.' Federer announced his schedule for the first quarter of the 2017 season and there are five events in total, Davis Cup not included.
And so captain Severin Luthi decided to nominee Marco Chiudineli, Henri Laaksonen, Adrien Bossel and Antoine Bellier for a tie that now becomes an impossible mission.
