Ruben Bemelmans: 'We had to find a way to win third set'

The Belgium Davis Cup team captain Johan Van Herck doesn't regret he didn't choose David Goffin for doubles match in the Davis Cup final against France. Ruben Bemelmans and Joris de Loore lost to Richard Gasquet and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in four sets, but in press conference Van Herck said: 'A doubles is about who can play well with who and my feeling was that Ruben and Joris were the best pair for us today.' Van Herck added: 'We didn't have a good day, but we will fight until the end to comeback.

It's never easy to play home, especially in this kind of stadiums where you have full crowd against.' Bemelmans, who was in tears at the end of the match, instead has regrets, because he and de Loore unsuccessfully served to win third set on 5-3 and take a two sets to one lead. 'It was a crucial moment', admitted Bemelmans.

'At the beginning of the match we were a little bit too tense and French was leading rallies putting a lot of pressure. We had to find a way to close that third set, but we didn't manage to.' Joris de Loore admitted he struggled on serve and didn't find right timing: 'I didn't put a lot of first serves IN and things got complicated.' .
