Italy's Davis Cup captain Corrado Barazzutti says that rising Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has the right mentality to play at the high level and could be called to play for Italy in the Davis Cup, but refused to confirm the final team selection while speaking to the newspaper La Nuova Sardegna.
Barazzutti says, "I cannot announce the names of players called up, first I have to tell them the players and only later the media. It seems to me that is the correct way. However, I can tell you that Jannik Sinner has an interesting profile and that he has the right mentality to be able to play at high levels and is proving it .
He together with Sonego and Berrettini represent the great hopes of our tennis " Italy take on South Korea in the Davis Cup qualifying tie on March 6 and 7 in Cagliari with the winner advancing to the Davis Cup World Group Finals in Madrid at the end of this year.
"South Korea is an opponent not to be underestimated and we should give our best. In sport, nothing is simple. Of course we hope to win the Davis Cup also because it is a fantastic emotion that I had the pleasure of feeling as a player.
In Cagliari I know there will be many people cheering for us and they will help us in our endeavour." . Barazzutti also says that he prefers the older format of the Davis Cup and that the best of three sets format has made the competition lose its charm.
