Tennis - Kazakhstan remained in contention in their Davis Cup World Group quarter final tie against the Czech Republic by winning the doubles rubber on Saturday. Kazakhs Andrey Golubev and Yuriy Schukin beat Czechs Jan Hajek and Radek Stepanek 76(2) 64 63 on Saturday.
The Czechs lead the tie 2-1 after they won both of the singles matches on Friday. In Sunday's reverse singles, Mikhail Kukushkin will meet Czech Lukas Rosol while Golubev plays Jan Hajek. Kazakhstan captain Dias Doskarayev suggested he may change the line-up, “We are going to see how the guys feel.
All of the four guys understand that if you are coming into Davis Cup, you are expected to be ready to play all three days. Whoever plays tomorrow, they are going to be ready, that’s for sure.” The Czechs could also get veteran Stepanek to play singles on Sunday.
Captain Jaroslav Navratil wcommented, "We have to sit down tonight and I have to decide who is coming in for tomorrow. I have to speak to Radek. Normally I would want to put him in for a match on Sunday.” .
