Both players, will be making their debut in the Event, which is being held for only the third year. Li Na is the two times defending champion, meaning a new champion will be crowned in the new year. Kvitova, did not play an International event this year, whereas Halep entered her home town event of Bucharest, where she was the victor.
The Shenzhen Open, is an International Event, who holds a purse of $500,000 meaning they can sign up two top ten players. Last years event, included home favourite Li Na and the Italian Sara Errani, who was ranked in the top ten at this time last year.
Both Kvitova and Halep are both pre entered for the Sydney International, which takes place a week later, starting on Sunday 11th January 2015. The last time Kvitova entered an International event was at the Katowice Open, where she lost in the final to Roberta Vinci.
The Brisbane International will be without star players, with just Maria Sharapova signing up to play next year. Last year it signed the world's leading top ranked three players in Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Sharapova.
Serena Williams, Agnieszka Radwanska and Eugenie Bouchard have all committed to playing at the Hopman Cup, whereas Caroline Wozniacki is playing at the ASB Classic in Auckland for the first time along with Venus Williams.
