The Memphis Open played a role in the ATP calendar for more than 40 years but they couldn't continue after 2017, struggling to find the sponsors for the last few years. The event moved to Long Island, New York, and it will be held at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on black indoor hard courts which makes it a unique stop in the ATP calendar. Kevin Anderson will be the top seed and he will face an in-form Mackenzie McDonald or a qualifier in the second round.
In one of the most interesting matches of the opening round, 17-year-old Sebastian Korda will make his ATP debut against Frances Tiafoe after winning the Australian Open junior crown a few week ago. Nikoloz Basilashvili or Dudi Sela will wait for some of the youngsters in the second round and it will be interesting to see who will reach the semis from the top quarter.
John Isner and Kei Nishikori are the seeded players in the second quarter, with Radu Albot, Victor Estrella Burgos, Evgeny Donskoy and Noah Rubin looking to spoil their party and prevent their quarter-final meeting. In the third quarter, we have Steve Johnson, Adrian Mannarino, Jeremy Chardy, Peter Gojowczyk and three qualifiers and almost all of them will have a chance to advance into the semis.
The bottom quarter is packed with home players, including the second seed Sam Querrey and the sixth seed Ryan Harrison. Donald Young, Jared Donaldson, Ivo Karlovic, Mikhail Youzhny and John Millman are also there and this part of the draw will for sure provide some thrilling encounters in the battle for the place in the last four.
