The start of the 2023 season is less and less also for Carlos Alcaraz, who will soon be called to confirm himself as one of the best tennis players at the moment in a very prestigious appointment such as the Australian Open.
After the performance in the Kooyong Classics event, with other important players such as his rival friend Jannik Sinner, the Spaniard will already concentrate on the first Grand Slam of the year, deciding not to participate in an ATP 250 preparation and preferring to recover in full physical condition with workouts.
Back from the victory of the Us Open, the Iberian will have to demonstrate that he can handle high expectations, given that he too will be number one in the main draw.
Almost 7000 points to defend, the 2023 Alcaraz´s choices
It will certainly not be an easy task for the 19-year-old athlete to keep the first place in the standings.
Meanwhile, the boy coached by coach Juan Carlos Ferrero has already moved forward and revealed what his plans are for the season, planning his own personal schedule. According to the information gathered by Marca, Alcaraz will then fly to Rio de Janeiro and Acapulco after the Australian tour, before facing the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami, in which in the last he holds the title.
Saying goodbye to hard-courts, the Spaniard will focus on the clay season: Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid (both won in 2022), Rome and the Roland Garros are all competitions in which he intends to take part. As for the second part of the year, the Spaniard will play a previous event (yet to be defined, Queen´s or Halle among the hypotheses) before Wimbledon.
Then it will be the turn of Toronto and Cincinnati to prepare the return as winner at the US Open. In the event of an Asian tour, the Iberian will play an ATP before going to Shanghai. He will close the year in Paris-Bercy, but first playing a tournament in Europe (Basel or Vienna).
Carlos Alcaraz´s hope will be to end the season at the Nitto ATP Finals and at the Davis Cup finals.
