Jannik Sinner's 2023 was pretty good. The Italian number one won the first 1000 and showed great continuity on all surfaces: clay, grass or concrete, it's almost indifferent, Jannik always reaches the final stages of the tournament and falls only with players of a similar or higher ranking; except in rare cases (the example is that of Lajovic in Cincinnati where he was tired after the victory in Toronto), Sinner is very continuous and reached the round of 16 here in Flushing Meadows.
From now on, however, the calendar is terrible, starting with the super challenge against the German Alexander Zverev, who has just returned to the Top-10. However this tournament goes, Sinner can smile, a few more certainties and above all a fourth position in the consolidated ATP Race.
The Italian is really one step away from the ATP Finals in Turin, a commitment that will see him among the protagonists and will see him play at home in front of the fans who follow and admire him carefully every year. Alcaraz and Djokovic are officially qualified, Medvedev only needs one victory to get the official pass for Turin while Sinner is also very close; the South Tyrolean tennis player has extended Stefanos Tsitsipas and Holger Rune while Rublev is the other in this fight in full contention.
He is very intrigued by the challenge for eighth place with Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev in ninth and tenth place, still working to get ahead of their opponents. He also keeps an eye on Alex De Minaur, eleventh in the Race but 500 points from the decisive eighth position.
In the Top 20 the other still in the running is Frances Tiafoe who will have the easiest fourth on paper and who can enter the contention. For Sinner, however, excellent news after this US Open and it is really close to being official, the Italian tennis player can smile.
The challenge to enter the Quarterfinals of the US Open, a very tough match on paper and which theoretically (barring Arnaldi's miracles) would lead him to play the long-awaited Quarterfinal with Carlos Alcaraz, a rematch of last year's match.
Lorenzo Musetti is not in contention for Turin, but he is still twenty-second in the Race. Nice jump also by Matteo Arnaldi who gains 16 positions and is now number 44 in the world for the results achieved this year.
