An Early Statement for Novak Djokovic

The second half of the 2016 season was not that great for Novak Djokovic. Amid personal problems, the Serbian was troubled with coaching issues and his on court performances suffered drastically since he won the French Open.

Due to the inconsistency that finally seemed to have creeped into Djokovic’s game, Andy Murray was quick to pounce and climb up to the top of the World rankings. There is no doubt that Murray played some inspiring tennis by winning 5 tournaments in a row to end the year.

However, 2017 is a new year now and Djokovic has made an early statement by retaining his title in Doha and defeating Murray in the final. The Serbian recorded his 25th win over the Brit and has shown that he is coming back stronger.

There is a lot of tennis to be played this year and nothing can be said about how consistent Djokovic will be, considering the way he started last year – and looked unsurmountable. However, a changing of the guard still took place by the end of the year.

Djokovic has done his best to recover from that and had to overcome a frustrating second set in this final as well but there was fight, there was desire the Serbian had lacked. Also Read: John Millman Talks About Abuse from Disgruntled Punters
