The show starts with Indian Wells! The ATP / WTA combined tournament is the event of the week, and of course the only tournament of the ATP and WTA Tour that will be played in these two weeks. All the great names of the tennis will be playing on the Californian hard courts, in what represents, after the four Grand Slam tournaments, the event which perhaps today is the most prestigious in the world of tennis.
Glamour, fashion, great performance, gossip and entertainment are all aspects that involve insiders, media, fans and crowd. Indian Wells is the first ATP Masters 1000 and the first WTA Premier Mandatory of the season, with an enviable total prize money of $ 9,314,875.
Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev, Kevin Anderson, Kei Nishikori, Stan Wawrinka, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Tomas Berdych, Gael Monfils, Milos Raonic, Grigor Dimitrov, Nick Kyrgios, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Simona Halep, Angelique Kerber, Elina Svitolina, Garbine Muguruza, Sloane Stephens, Karolina Pliskova and Petra Kvitova are just some of the many names that will come down on the hard courts.
With the only exception of Juan Martin del Potro, who will not be present for problems still related to last year's patella injury. Not just this. In fact, during the tournament, ATP will announce what will be the next city that will host the ATP Finals for the seasons 2021-2025.
The five finalist cities are: London, Manchester, Tokyo, Singapore and Turin. There is every reason to follow with great interest this tournament, which, together with the Miami Open which will follow Indian Wells, is the most prestigious event of the month of March, and certainly one of the most interesting tennis moments of 2019.
