The clay swing starts to come alive. Tennis players are becoming more familiar with the change of playing surface, after the first three months of the year spent playing on fast surfaces through hard courts all over the world.
This week of April there will be four events, two ATP tournaments and two WTA ones. The guys of the ATP Tour will be engaged in the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships 2019, in Houston (USA, ATP 250) and in the Grand Prix Hassan II 2019 in Marrakech (Morocco, ATP 250).
In the US tournament, there will be Steve Johnson (seed no. 1), Jeremy Chardy, Taylor Fritz, Sam Querrey, Paolo Lorenzi and Tennys Sandgren. In Morocco, Alexander Zverev will lead the court. With him, Gael Monfils, Richard Gasquet, Fabio Fognini and Kyle Edmund.
The girls will play the Ladies Open Lugano 2019, in Lugano (Switzerland, WTA International) and the Claro Open Colsanitas 2019, in Bogotà (Colombia, WTA International). In Switzerland, Belinda Bencic leads the draw, but there will also be the expected return to the competitions of Timea Bacsinszky, in addition to the presence of Camila Giorgi.
In Bogotà, Jelena Ostapenko and Amanda Anisimova will be the stars of the tournament. Men will also be involved in the ATP Challenger tournament in Taipei. The Monte Carlo Rolex Masters will begin next week, with the come back of all (or almost all) the protagonists of the ATP Tour.
