French Open day 13 recap: Fedal, rain and first times

What a day at the Roland Garros 2019! Starring Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and ... the rain! The Spaniard got his twelfth Parisian final, beating the eternal rival in three sets, in the thirty-ninth meeting between the two, with Rafa now leading 24-15.

After them, the rain broke the challenge between Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem, with the Austrian ahead in the third set. But today was also a day of first times. Ashleigh Barty and Marketa Vondrousova have crowned two dream weeks, winning two of the craziest and most neurotic semi-finals in recent years, getting their first final in a Slam tournament, starting as an outsider on the eve, and then playing for the title of queen of clay-courts.

Talking about first times, Kristina Mladenovic will become the new world no. 1 in the WTA doubles ranking. The Frenchwoman reached her second final in the women's doubles at the Roland Garros, this time along Timea Babos, after winning in 2016 with Caroline Garcia.

Amelie Mauresmo is not very happy with the schedule of the Roland Garros 2019: "There is no doubt that the schedule was affected by rain, and the WTA understands the problems that occurred at the Roland Garros. However, we are extremely annoyed by the schedule of both women's semi-finals on secondary courts.

This decision is incorrect and inappropriate. The four women, who played so well until now, had earned the right to play on the most important stage." Tomorrow the women's singles final and semifinal between Djokovic and Thiem.
