Wimbledon day 1 recap: an early goodbye to Zverev, Tsitsipas, Osaka

The first day at Wimbledon 2019 has already offered a lot of exciting content. Starting with the first round matches. No problems for Novak Djokovic, Kevin Anderson, Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, Simona Halep, Elina Svitolina and Karolina Pliskova.

Instead, it is still night for Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Naomi Osaka, all three of them blatantly eliminated. The new Court 1, renovated and with a retractable roof, was in the spotlight on this first London day.

Very family feeling with the Center Court, although the latter has a much more exciting atmosphere, overall. Even on the outside, everything looks much greener, thanks to new plants and wooden coverings. The courtside picnic risks becoming unbearable for the crowd.

One of the organization's proposals is the possibility of having a picnic basket ready to be enjoyed on Henman Hill, or anywhere through the All England Club. This basket contains salmon pâté, chicken and lentil salad, two canapés, two pies, strawberries with cream, cheese crackers, a small bottle of wine, and two of mineral waters.

All for 99 pounds! Enjoy your meal... Wimbledon is traditionally the tournament of traditions. Yet, one of the oldest has just been eliminated by the organizers. From this edition, the name of the women players will not be preceded by Miss or Mrs.

After the introduction of the super tie-break on the fifth set, here is another piece of Wimbledon history that goes away. Tomorrow on the court Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Kei Nishikori, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Marin Cilic, Tomas Berdych, Ashleigh Barty, Angelique Kerber, Garbine Muguruza, Petra Kvitova, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams.
