Australian Open final day: Novak Djokovic chases Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic is again the Australian Open champion. The Serb defeated Dominic Thiem in the final of the men 'singles, after five tiring and hard sets, where the two protagonists had to endure a great physical and psychological effort lasting 4 precise hours.

Nole e got his 8th title in Melbourne, the 17th Slam and the 78th title of his amazing career. The Serb is even closer to Rafael Nadal's 19 titles and Roger Federer's 20 Slam-record. The best possible start of the season for Djokovic after winning the ATP Cup.

For Thiem remains some regrets for being 2-1 ahead, byt the Austrian is sure to win his first Slam in the coming months. Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury defeated the Australian wild-cards Luke Saville and Max Purcell in two sets bto win the men's doubles.

A great satisfaction, especially for the 36 years-old Ram, finally winner of his first title in men's doubles. What is left of the Australian Open 2020? Definitely a historical tournament, with Sofia Kenin's first Slam and Djokovic's 17th Major.

Furthermore, Roger Federer's beautiful performances cannot be forgotten. In general, it was a good tournament, even if not up to the two-year period 2017-2018 from a spectacular point of view. The fires in Australia and the spread of the coronavirus were the concerns that plagued a generally good - but boring in some moments - edition.
