Roger Federer's best memory - 2018 edition: The seal of the 20th Slam

Roger Federer's career is studded with great successes and incredible records: with 20 Slams he is the record holder but the Swiss Maestro has achieved other great goals, such as eight triumphs at Wimbledon, the weeks as world no.

1, and the titles on the grass and hard courts. For each season, however, there is a particular goal, an achievement that should be highlighted. In 2018 Federer won his 20 Slam, in Melbourne, and he returned for a few more weeks as the world no.

1, after the victory in Rotterdam. In total that year he won four titles: Australian Open, Rotterdam, Stuttgart and Basel, out of a total of 7 finals played (he lost Indian Wells against Juan Martin del Potro, Halle against Borna Coric and Cincinnati against Novak Djokovic).

Defending his Australian Open title was not simple. Federer started the 2018 Australian Open as the second seed. He won the first four rounds in straight sets, beating Aljaz Beden, Jan-Lennard Struff, Richard Gasquet and Marton Fucsovics, respectively.

In the quarter-finals, he challenged Tomas Berdych: after a hard-fought first set won in the tie-break, Roger also won that challenge in three sets. In the semi-finals, Federer took advantage of the mid-match retirement of Hyeon Chung during the second set.

After a year he had the chance to defend the title, this time against Marin Cilic. Federer defeated the Croatian in the 2017 Wimbledon final, but this time the Swiss Maestro needed five hard-fought sets (final score 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1) to win the 20th Slam of his extraordinary career.

"Honestly, 2018 was a great season for me: I won the Australian Open, and I came back (as the) number 1 in the world, played a decent season on grass-court (despite the disappointing defeat against Kevin Anderson in five sets).

I am not satisfied with how I played Cincinnati, but I reached the final. I am happy. I am healthy. I won another Slam: I always said that a year with a Slam won is a very good season. In addition, I feel I have still a lot to give tennis," said Roger Federer in late 2018.
