Belarus, Belgium, Serbia and Great Britain earn victories in Fed Cup

Tennis: Belarus, Belgium, Serbia, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Croatia and Ukraine earned victories in the first matches of the Fed Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I ties. Johan Konta and Heather Watson easily won their singles matches in straight sets and then the pair of Anna Smith and Jocelyn Rae won doubles to give Great Britain 3-0 win over Liechtenstein.

Although Victoria Azarenka did not play, but Olga Govortsova and Aliaksandra Sasnovich gave Belarus 3-0 victory again Georgia. Sofia Shapatava was the only Georgian who won a set against Sasnovich. Serbia was also easy winner against Austria, as Aleksandra Krunic and Ivana Jorovic got straight sets wins in both singles and doubles matches.

Ana Konjuh and Donna Vekic also gave Croatia 3-0 win over Israel. Yanina Wickmayer was rested, as Belgium face Latvia. The 2013 Wimbledon semifinalist Kirsten Flipkens was taken into three sets by World No.266 Jelena Ostapenko, but she prevailed and won 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.

Alison VAN Uytvanck won her singles match easily and they won doubles in straight sets. World No.26 Elina Svitoliva lost to World No.117 Cagla Buyukakcay but still Ukraine defeated Turkey 2-1. Bulgaria defeated Portugal 3-0.
