Germany's top ranked player Angelique Kerber, ranked no. 6 in the world, has pulled out of next week's Fed Cup tie. Kerber is suffering from a back injury and will be replaced by Anana-Lena Gronefeld in the team. Kerber posted the following message to her Facebook page - I am sad to announce, that I must cancel my participation in the Fed Cup in France! I've tried everything, but unfortunately my back not doing well, that I am 100% fit!
I'm quite sure that the girls without me against France will do.
I keep my fingers crossed them firmly and in thoughts in Limoges! Now, my focus is to come back very quickly! Kerber has been one of the most consistent players on the tour last season, rising from outside the top 100 in August 2011 to no.
5 at the end of last season.
