Have Bopanna and Qureshi parted ways? No more Indo-Pak Express?

Tennis: Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Rohan Bopanna, famously known as the Indo-Pak Express and one of the top pairs on the tour, have apparently broken up as both of them played separately in Tokyo and Beijing this week. None of them has confirmed but at the moment it looks like Rohan Bopanna has decided to end the partnership, because the Indian is playing with his compatriot Leander Paes in Tokyo and Qureshi is playing with much lower ranked World No.55 Maximo Gonzalez in Beijing.

Normally regular pairs never miss a chance of playing together at the end of the year as they have to look for the precious points to qualify for the World Tour Finals. But both Paes and Bopanna have decided to snub their partners, even though Davis Cup or any team event is not nearby.

Bopanna had also snubbed Qureshi at the start of 2012, because he had decided to play with his compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi at the 2012 Olympics. After playing with different partners for two years, they renewed their partnership at the start of 2014.

The pair was among the best teams at one time and had high hopes of qualifying for the World Tour Finals but it looks like they have given up the hopes of being among the top 8 teams at the end of this year. Aisam Qureshi and Maximo Gonzalez could not even get a direct entry and lost in the first qualifying round to Teymuraz Gabashvili and Mikhail Kukushkin in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (6).
