Leander Paes made history at this year’s French Open as the 42 year old alongside partner Martina Hingis completed a career slam of mixed doubles. However, despite all his achievements and accolades, Paes’s participation in the Rio Olympics is still not certain as it is Rohan Bopanna’s call to choose him as a partner.
The 36 year old is ranked World No 10 in doubles and has the choice to choose his partner at the Rio Games, despite their ranking. The Indian selection committee is set to hold a meeting on June 11th and then decide the partnerships.
However, according to Paes, him and Bopanna make the perfect combination and they should be heading to Rio. “Rohan (Bopanna) and I are the best possible combination. We are playing at a very high level. My career speaks for itself and Rohan has also been doing well in the last 18 months.
We both are ready and without a shadow of doubt; me and Rohan are the best team,” Also Read: Nadal and Sharapova: One injured, one banned.
