The Roland Garros increases its prize money by 12.3%: it is monstrous!

The Roland Garros, like the rest of the Grand Slams, will increase the prize money awarded to players this season to $49.6m, which represents an increase of 12.3%. A considerable increase that obviously benefits the players, who have fought in recent years to have a higher distribution, as they are a source of interest for the crowd and televisions.

However, this will not be the only novelty. Amelie Mauresmo, director of the tournament, spoke of further changes. The plan calls for the night session to start every day on the Philippe Chatrier at 8:30pm local time, fifteen minutes earlier than last year.

However, at 8.00pm there will be a pre-show with music and entertainment which will be extended by half an hour. The first questions after this decision were not long in coming: what is the use of introducing this pre-show and extending the start of the evening match by half an hour? A further novelty, Mauresmo assures, will be the right of fans who buy a walk-up ticket to access the upper levels of the Simonne Mathieu court.

The Roland Garros 2023: will Rafael Nadal be there?

We are in the heart of the clay-court season. After having already attended some important tournaments, played in recent weeks, Monte-Carlo and Madrid above all, it is the turn of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia.

The Roman Masters 1000 has been considered for years one of the most fascinating events on the world tennis scene. It will be for the wonderful location of the Foro Italico, or because it is the last event before the advent of the Roland Garros, which will be staged a few days later.

The tournament won by Novak Djokovic last year therefore represents for many tennis players a fundamental test to measure their physical form in view of the Parisian slam. The major of the year, after the Australian Open, is highly anticipated like every year.

Waiting to know more details on the participations of the big names of him, Rafael Nadal above all, the tournament has already provided important news regarding the now imminent edition.
