The Race to conquer one of the first eight places in the ATP Race and secure participation in the Nitto ATP Finals is getting more and more interesting. Before the US Open, two places have already been assigned: Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, protagonists in the final at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, have accumulated the points necessary to guarantee access to the prestigious competition scheduled for the month of November.
After the event in Ohio, practically the last important appointment before the US Open, the final Slam of the 2023 season, there have been few innovations in the rankings. Daniil Medvedev remains third with a wide margin over the rest of the competition: the Russian will be the next one who will very soon receive the official status of being present at the PalaAlpitour.
Jannik Sinner, despite the premature elimination after the triumph in Toronto, kept the excellent fourth place with 4185 points. The margin of advantage, especially over the first of the excluded, is comforting and in New York the Italian could definitively put his presence in the Finals in the safe.
Stefanos Tsitsipas took back fifth place, sixth place for Andrey Rublev. There are several tennis players enclosed in a few points: Holger Rune is seventh in the standings with just over 3000. The last of the qualifiers at the moment would be the German Alexander Zverev, who has recovered several positions with the semifinal conquered in Cincinnati.
Behind many others can aspire to qualify, including Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Alex De Minaur and Tommy Paul.
Carlos Alcaraz 7455 (qualified)
Novak Djokovic 6945 (qualified)
Daniel Medvedev 5390
Jannik Sinner 4185
Stefanos Tsitsipas 3525
Andrey Rublev 3280
Holger Runes 3045
Alexander Zverev 2670

Casper Ruud 2580

At the US Open there will be many points up for grabs, which could of course revolutionize the ranking.
A week's break for everyone and then the attention that will move to the New York Slam, open to any type of scenario. The favorites are obviously the two already certain to fly to Turin at the end of the season: Alcaraz and Djokovic, who has rebalanced the direct clashes in Cincinnati. But watch out for surprises, which have always distinguished the tournament in Flushing Meadows.
