The world No.1 Novak Djokovic won the lTF World Champions, the annual award for the best players of the year. For the 24-time Slam champion, this is the eighth success in his career: a new milestone, as he has become the only one to have achieved so many since this award has existed.

Yet another record obtained by Novak Djokovic, crowning another season lived as an absolute protagonist, in which the 36-year-old Serbian won another 3 Slam titles out of the four available, also playing the final at Wimbledon, to which were also added two ATP Master 1000 (Cincinnati and Paris Bercy), the ATP 250 in Adelaide and the ATP Finals in Turin, in the final against Jannik Sinner.

Another recognition, another record added to a now infinite list. If Djokovic, despite Roger Federer's withdrawal and Rafael Nadal's absences from the Tour, had to renounce the award for the most loved tennis player by fans of 2023 - the award given at the 2023 ATP Awards to Jannik Sinner - it came early for the Serbian consolation.

ITF World Champion to Aryna Sabalenka

If Djokovic's victory was rather predictable, the surprises come from the women's Tour. The ITF has nominated Aryna Sabalenka, winner of the Australian Open and No.2 in the WTA world ranking, as World Champion for the first time, preferring her to Iga Swiatek, awarded Best Player of the WTA season.

For the Belarusian tennis player it was certainly the season of consecration, the best of her career. The 25-year-old won her first Slam title at the beginning of the year, triumphing at the Australian Open in the final against Rybakina, to which must be added the title in Adelaide and the WTA 1000 in Madrid.

Sabalenka's growth was evident above all in the Majors, in which, in addition to the aforementioned title in Melbourne, the Belarusian reached at least the semifinals, then losing the final at the United States against the star of the New York crowd Coco Gauff.

Results that also earned the 25-year-old the top of the WTA rankings, which she defended until the Finals in Cancun, when she was overtaken by Iga Swiatek.
