Iga Swiatek showed her super form at the United Cup 2024. The Pole and her countryman Hubert Hurkacz won against Brazil in Group A of the competition. The WTA No.1 overwhelmed Beatriz Haddad Maia with a double 6-2 and offered Hurkacz the chance to end the match.

Hubert, after losing the first set in the tie-break, completed the comeback against Thiago Seyboth Wild with the score of (4) 6-7, 6-2, 6-3. China defeated the Czech Republic 3-0 in Group E.

Qinwen Zheng and Zhizhen Zhang defeated the reigning Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova and Jiri Lehecka in three sets respectively, who also surrendered in mixed doubles, collecting only three games.

Holland and Norway opened the second day of competition at the United Cup by competing in Group F in Sydney. Casper Ruud's effort in both singles and mixed doubles was in vain from the point of view of the final score, because the Dutch team prevailed 2-1.

After dominating a good part of the opening set, Arantxa Rus started to make a few too many mistakes and put a timid Malene Helgø back on track. The world number 539 managed to reach the tie-break, but she lost out at the best moment.

Rus overcame the difficult moment beautifully and finished with a clear 7-6(4) 6-1. Ruud equalized the score by putting in an excellent performance and beating Tallon Griekspoor with a score of 6-3, 6-4. The Norwegian canceled out a dangerous break point before surprising his rival in response and taking the lead at 5-2.

Having recovered the break deficit in the second half of the game, Griekspoor did not confirm his status and immediately allowed Ruud to serve for the match; opportunity exploited without hesitation. The finalist of the last edition of the Roland Garros, together with Ulrikke Eikeri, had the opportunity to serve for the first set in the mixed doubles match played against Wesley Koolhof and Demi Schuurs.

The Dutch raised their heads by winning the decisive point and then resolved the issue with a tie-break. The same happened in the second set too, but Ruud and Eikeri completely exited the match, losing four games in a row by 5-3.
