Jannik Sinner's 2024 started in a sparkling way, between the Australian Open and the Miami Open. The hip injury slowed his rise in clay swing, but the first three rounds he won at Roland Garros without giving up a set were very encouraging. There are 31 victories in the first 33 games played this season by the young Italian. And this is an incredible milestone, considering that he reached this milestone even before he turned 23.

Only three tennis players have achieved this feat like him: Jimmy Connors (1974), Ivan Lendl (1982), Pete Sampras (1994).

At the press conference after the 3rd round match of the Parisian Slam, Jannik spoke about the good performance against Kotov.

"I'm happy to have advanced to the next round, it was a tough match, he's an excellent player. I played against him recently and this changed a couple of things. Physically I felt good on the pitch. Physically, however, I still have to improve a couple of things. It's important to have a day off. I'll try to be ready for the next round," he told.

As happened in Madrid, Kotov put Sinner in difficulty, who had to use all his qualities on the court to get the better of him.

"It's a very physical Grand Slam, I try to accept the difficult moments and look at the positive side. Skiing? I don't think I would have gone too far in skiing. This is my feeling, you never know. The balance I have on the track, when I slide, but above all mentally, helped me. It's a completely different approach. I've always been a little scared going downhill when you jump a lot.
Mentally, on the court, I'm not afraid to make certain shots because nothing can happen,"
he explained.
