With her tennis career taking a backseat for now, former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova is using her time to enjoy the showbiz side of her life. On Wednesday, Sharapova attended designer Vera Wang's show at the New York Fashion Week where she looked elegant in a black suit.
She was also seen alongside Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at the show. She posted an update on her Twitter account on the same. The Russian glamour girl also attended the Vanity Fair Oscars after party with boyfriend and businessman Alexander Gilkes over the weekend.
On the court, Sharapova was beaten in the first round of the Australian Open in Melbourne by Croatia's Donna Vekic. She had received a wild card to enter the competition after her ranking had dropped out of the Top 100 at the start of the year due to injuries in 2019.
After her first round loss, Sharapova is now ranked No. 371 in the world. When asked in Melbourne if she would be back next year, the Russian commented, "I don’t know. It’s tough for me to tell what’s going to happen in 12 months’ time.
I just don’t know. I haven’t thought of my schedule moving forward from here yet”. She has not confirmed when she will play her next tournament. The Russian turns 33 years old in April
