Former world No. 3 Stan Wawrinka has acknowledged that it's astonishing what the Big Three have been doing for the past 15 years and underlined that what Novak Djokovic is doing right now is "something special."
Djokovic, who recently won Wimbledon, tied Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer on the all-time record list with 20 Grand Slams. Djokovic is now the top favorite to finish his career with most Majors one day. “Well, you never expect a player to be ready to win four Grand Slams, but I think what they show us since 15 years, even more between Roger, Rafa, and Novak, it’s, they are just pushing and pushing and pushing the extreme limit of how well you can play in tennis.
Novak a bit more the last few years. His level is for sure something special,” said Wawrinka, as quoted on Essentially Sports.
Wawrinka believes Djokovic could win the US Open
Djokovic has won the opening three Grand Slams of the season and he will capture a Calendar Grand Slam if he also wins the US Open.
“It’s tough to really say for me, I always feel that he will win because of the way he is playing, the way he can close match, and the way he can find his way. I always feel he is going to win,” said Wawrinka.
Djokovic failed to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics but he is already looking forward to the future. "It was a true privilege to represent #SRB at the Olympics. Thank you #Tokyo2020 and everyone that helped us come together for the magic of sport.
I know in my heart I gave it everything to fight for a medal, and I’m looking forward to coming back stronger at #Paris2024. This was an unbelievable experience I will never forget. Good luck to all the Serbian athletes still competing for a medal," Djokovic said in a Twitter post.
