World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has revealed that he is planning to play the Paris Masters, Nitto ATP Finals and Davis Cup Finals in the rest of 2021. After ending runner-up at the US Open, Djokovic returned to Belgrade and he has been spending time with his family and recharging following an exhausting summer.
"For now I'm planning to play Paris, the Nitto ATP Finals and Davis Cup Finals. That's my schedule for the rest of the season. I should stay in Belgrade until the end of the week, then the week before Paris I will leave Serbia so I could fully commit to trainings and preparation.
For now, I will for sure stay in Belgrade until the end of the week because my kids go to school here and Stefan has a birthday in a few weeks, so we are planning to celebrate it with the family," Djokovic told Serbian daily newspaper Blic.
Some feared Djokovic would skip the rest of 2021
After suffering a disappointing straight-set loss to Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final, Djokovic hinted he could skip the rest of the season. "Let me tell you – I have no plan, absolutely nothing,” Djokovic said after the final.
“I don’t know if I’m going to play anything, anywhere… I’m just here in New York right now”. Djokovic is set to represent Serbia at the Davis Cup Finals and Filip Krajinovic made it clear the Serbian team wants to win it all.
“I would like to use the next three tournaments to raise my game before the Davis Cup”, Krajinovic told Serbian daily newspaper Blic. “We are going there with all the best players, so our goal is to lift the trophy, just like we did in 2010.
Novak is with us, so we are surely not going there to lose. We made an agreement to play, all of us, we are eager to get that trophy."
