Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick thinks it would be impossible to argue against Novak Djokovic being the greatest tennis player of all time if he finished his career with most Grand Slam titles in tennis history. Djokovic captured three Grand Slam titles this season to tie Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on the all-time Grand Slam record list with 20 Majors.
"I’ll say it very clearly, if Novak Djokovic ends his career with the most Grand Slams titles of all time it is a statistical impossibility to argue against him being the greatest based on numbers," Roddick said on Tennis Channel.
Djokovic could skip the Australian Open
Djokovic could win a record 21st Grand Slam as early as in January. However, there is a chance he won't play at Melbourne Park in January. "I will not reveal my status, whether I have been vaccinated or not.
It is a private matter and an inappropriate inquiry," Djokovic recently told Blic. "People go too far these days in taking the liberty to ask questions and judge a person. Whatever you say, 'yes', 'no', 'maybe', 'I am thinking about it', they will take advantage." At the Paris Masters, Djokovic said he'll wait for the official announcement before he makes his decision on the Australian Open.
"Regarding Australia – to avoid speculation and assumptions, I am waiting for the official announcement to be released before I decide what I will do," Djokovic said, per Tennis Majors. "I am not thinking only of myself but of all the other tennis players.
We are colleagues, parts of a whole, we should be more united when it comes to important situations, but unfortunately that unity has not existed in the last 30, 40 years… We have now made the first step (with the PTPA), but there is still much to be done.
The unity between the players is not on the required level. If it was, we would deal with such situations much more easily”.
