'Novak Djokovic has a different culture than...', says Top 10

2021 allowed Matteo Berrettini to take off further satisfactions, as well as confirming his Top 10 status. The Roman tennis player won two titles this year, respectively in Belgrade and at Queen's, a historic event that boasts numerous legends in its roll of honor.

The 25-year-old Italian proved to be very happy on the grass, having also reached the final at Wimbledon. Matteo unleashed a series of monstrous performances in the London temple, making an entire country dream and bringing great attention to tennis.

His path broke against the number 1 ATP Novak Djokovic, author of a good comeback after losing the first set. Berrettini hit the quarterfinals at both Roland Garros and the US Open, surrendering in both cases to a wild Djokovic.

Having qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin, the world number 7 suffered an abdominal injury during the first match against Alexander Zverev. Vincenzo Santopadre's pupil withdrew from the tournament and had to give up the Davis Cup finals as well.

Host of the 'Cachemire' podcast in recent days, the Italian told several interesting anecdotes.

Berrettini reflects on Novak Djokovic

"In 2014 I lost in the second round of Wimbledon in junior mode. When I left the court I told myself that this place must be seen at least once in life.

Even for people who do not understand anything about tennis it must to know the importance of this tournament. I always had the feeling that something special would happen on that stage. This year I was able to make those thoughts come true" - Matteo Berrettini stated.

"After I won the Queen's title, many journalists told me that the bookmakers were giving me a finalist for Wimbledon. I thought they were crazy. Little by little I realized that my tennis fits very well under this surface and that I I've become one of the most dangerous players on grass" - he added.

Matteo also talked about Novak Djokovic: "Personally, he never did anything wrong to me, except to beat me every time we played (laughs). In my opinion, he has a different culture than the rest. I'm impressed by his desire to keep winning after everything he has achieved in these last times."

Novak Djokovic must absolutely devastated as Team Serbia crashed out of the Davis Cup 2021. The team that looked strong throughout the tournament fell short against Marin Cilic’s Croatia. In their decider match, Djokovic was caught kicking his tennis kit bag in frustration. Meanwhile, Luka Modric watched the Serb lose his temper.
