The Australian government's bid to delay Novak Djokovic's visa court hearing for two days has been rejected. Djokovic has a court hearing scheduled for Monday and the Scott Morrison government tried to delay the hearing for Wednesday.
Judge Anthony Kelly rejected the bid and world No. 1 Djokovic is set to have his court hearing as originally scheduled on Monday. Djokovic was detained at the Melbourne Airport for nine hours before the Australian Border Force cancelled his visa.
Djokovic is hoping the court will restore him his visa on Monday.
Djokovic to leave if the court decides that way
"If the court decides that he has to leave, he will leave [Australia]. If the court decides that he stays, he will stay.
But it won’t be politicans who decide about that;" Djokovic's father, Srdjan, said during a rally in Serbia. Srdjan said Djokovic was not placed in detention, but in prison. “Novak and his team filed the same type of documents as those 25 other tennis players and they didn't have any problems, just Novak.
