'The key thing for Novak Djokovic is...', says top coach

Novak Djokovic did not come out very satisfied from Roland Garros 2022. The world number 1 was considered the big favorite for the victory after the success in Rome, but was unable to defend the title he won in Paris last year.

His run was interrupted in the quarters against his eternal rival Rafael Nadal, who won in four sets avenging the defeat he suffered in 2021. The Serbian phenomenon paid dearly for a nightmare start and numerous ups and downs during the challenge , which prevented him from bringing the dispute to the fifth.

As if that weren't enough, Nole had to helplessly watch Nadal's umpteenth triumph at Porte d'Auteuil. The 36-year-old Spaniard has therefore hoisted himself to 22 Majors, stretching over Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the all-time ranking.

The 35-year-old from Belgrade will try to redeem himself at Wimbledon, where he will go hunting for his seventh seal. In a long interview with 'Tennis Majors', Goran Ivanisevic analyzed Djokovic's chances at the Championships.

Ivanisevic reflects on Djokovic

"Novak Djokovic is the absolute favourite at Wimbledon, as is Rafa here," Ivanisevic said. "Novak now needs to rest well and prepare physically and mentally for Wimbledon - I'm sure he can do it and I think he will win it, I have a good feeling.

We need to focus on that now. The key thing for him is to recover mentally. As I have said in the past, Novak is a genius with a different mindset than most of us. Even though he needs less time than most to come back and to figure some things out, he still needs to do it.

He has overcome tough losses in the past, and I am completely certain that he will be ready for Wimbledon," he said. Along with incredible ability, Novak Djokovic is also known for his witty responses and sense of humor.

In a funny question, he was asked to compare ‘The Big 3’ with different musical instruments. The world number 1 said that Roger Federer is like a violin, while Nadal is like an electric guitar or drums and finally compared himself to a saxophone.

He said, “Roger Federer is a violin. I don’t think anyone has anything to say about it. As for Rafael Nadal, I would associate it with an electric guitar or drums. I am a saxophone because it is an instrument that goes well with any type of music”.
