Novak Djokovic delivers classy message to Nick Kyrgios after Wimbledon final

Novak Djokovic showed his class after beating Nick Kyrgios in the Wimbledon final as he encouraged the Australian to keep his head high and told him that he will certainly reach another Grand Slam final. In his maiden Grand Slam final, Kyrgios competed extremely well but Djokovic was able to fend off the Australian and claim a 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (3).

Kyrgios was playing his first Grand Slam final, while Djokovic was competing in his 32nd Major final. “Nick, you’ll be back,” Djokovic told Kyrgios on-court, per the ATP website. “Not just at Wimbledon, but in finals.

I know it’s tough to find words of consolation after a tough loss like this, but you showed why you deserve to be one of the best players in the world, particularly on this surface. Congrats to you and your team for an amazing tournament, I wish you all the best."

Djokovic encouraged Kyrgios to keep his head high

Kyrgios, 27, said at the start of the tournament that his goal was to win the title. Throughout the entire tournament, Kyrgios looked like a man on a mission and he was certainly a very difficult challenge for Djokovic in the final.

"I thought I played well. It’s been an amazing couple of weeks for me personally. Myself, my team, I think we are all exhausted, we’ve played so much tennis. I definitely need a well-earned vacation after this one.

I’m just really happy with this result, it’s probably the best of my career. Maybe one day I’ll be here again," Kyrgios said on-court. Kyrgios clinched three good results during the grass season as he reached back-to-back semifinals in Stuttgart and Halle leading up to Wimbledon.

Kyrgios will now take some time to rest and he is expected to return to action during the North American hard court swing.
