'It's hard to say how much Novak Djokovic...', says former star

When Novak Djokovic was making a name for himself on the ATP Tour, he had some cool moments with Roger Federer. Federer has on a few occasions criticized Djokovic and criticized him for his actions on the court. So at the 2009 Australian Open, Federer spoke about Djokovic's withdrawal from the Grand Slam.

Novak Djokovic was the defending champion at the 2009 Australian Open but had to withdraw from his quarter-final match against Andy Roddick due to heat stress. It was a close match, and the winner played Federer in the semi-final match.

So while reviewing Djokovic's match, Federer mocked Djokovic for withdrawing from the match. Additionally, Federer recalled his 2008 clash with Djokovic at the Monte Carlo Masters, in which the Serb had withdrawn with a sore throat.

“Well, I mean it happened before, so he's not the guy who has never given up on his career. I mean he gave up against me in Monaco this year because of last year because of a sore throat, yeah”. Also, Federer credited Andy Roddick for pushing Djokovic to the limit.

Furthermore, according to Federer, Roddick was the favorite for the match against Djokovic. "I think Andy pushed him there and you know Andy probably would have gotten away with the match anyway, so I think Andy fully deserves the match."

Goran Ivanisevic on the Big 3

Speaking to the press recently, former Croatian player and Novak Djokovic's coach Goran Ivanisevic revealed how he once predicted that Federer would be overtaken by the other two members of the Big 3, as far as Grand Slam titles are concerned.

"If someone had said ten years ago that both of them would surpass Federer, they would not have believed it. Even before I was on the team, I said that both Novak and Nadal would have more Grand Slam titles than Roger, and now it is coming true.

It's hard to say how much he [Djokovic] will have in the end. They're denying him the US Open now," Ivanisevic said. It was the US Open last year. Novak Djokovic was on his way to winning his fourth Grand Slam title that year, thereby completing a Calendar Year Grand Slam.

It was a rare feat that has eluded many great players like Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The Serb was up against Daniil Medvedev in the summit clash. However, Djokovic suffered a heart-breaking defeat in the finals as he lost in straight sets.
