Coach Goran Ivanisevic thinks Jannik Sinner is a very talented individual who definitely has the potential to win Grand Slams. Sinner, 20, is considered as one of the most promising players on the ATP Tour. At this past Wimbledon, Sinner reached his third Grand Slam quarterfinal.

Sinner fell just short of reaching his maiden Grand Slam semifinal after Novak Djokovic recovered from two sets down to beat the Italian 5-7 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-2. “I have been a big fan of Sinner since he was a kid. He is humble, he has immense talent and he is growing very well,” Ivanisevic told La Repubblica.

“He is the future of tennis and he will be able to win any Grand Slam. Even against Nole in London [during the quarter-final at Wimbledon] he played in an extraordinary way in the first two sets”.

Ivanisevic to Sinner: You can't let Djokovic breathe

Sinner looked absolutely great during the first two sets of his Wimbledon match versus Djokovic.

Then, Sinner shut down and Djokovic completely dominated the rest of the match. “He was wrong to give up and retreat in the third set. You can’t let Nole breathe. You have to finish him immediately," Ivanisevic explained.

Sinner has now been tipped to win a Grand Slam by Djokovic's coach and his own coach. Following Sinner's Umag victory, coach Darren Cahill said the 20-year-old has what it takes to win a Grand Slam. "Jannik is among those who can win Grand Slams," Cahill told La Stampa.

"And I mean now, not in a year's time. Already at the US Open? He moves well on hard and his play is powerful enough for that kind of surface." Sinner is heading to North America in positive spirits, having won his first title of the year last week in Umag. Sinner is set to kick off his summer on hard courts next week at the Montreal Masters.
