Former world No 1 Tracy Austin was impressed by Holger Rune's Paris Masters display. En route to winning his first Masters title in Paris, Rune defeated five top-10 players. In the final, Rune recovered from a set down to beat six-time Paris champion Novak Djokovic 3-6 6-3 7-5.

Also, Rune's run to the Paris Masters titles included wins over three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka, Andrey Rublev, Hubert Hurkacz, Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger-Aliassime. "Still thinking how incredible to beat half of Top 10 @holgerrune2003 in 1 tournament!!

Rare to get the chance—either unseeded or at @ATPTour Finals and then to exucute-insane!" Austin wrote on Twitter.

Austin praises Rune, other young stars

Austin, a former two-time US Open champion, feels the men's game is in great hands with the current talent they have.

"What a year for men’s tennis!! Alcaraz, Rune, Sinner, FAA, Tiafoe, Fritz. Huge games and star power. Excited for what’s ahead," Austin said in another tweet.

Meanwhile, Rune couldn't hide his happiness after stunning Djokovic for his first Masters title.

Rune defeated several big names en route to winning Paris, but admitted that beating Djokovic was the biggest victory. "To beat Novak. To be able to beat him in such occasion, in the final is probably the best feeling of this whole week.

It was also important for me to beat Felix and Alcaraz and these guys. But still, to be able to beat Novak, he's probably one of the greatest we have ever had in this sport. It's a crazy feeling," Rune said after the match. Patrick Mouratoglou, who joined Rune's team last month and will be there until the end of this season, said Rune did "something special" in the win over Djokovic.

"To play Novak in a final of a tournament is the greatest challenge possible. Holger's been able to find answers most of the time. That's why he ended up winning. But I don't think you can teach anyone to win versus Novak. You have to have something special," Mouratoglou said.
