Holger Rune drops praise on Novak Djokovic

Holger Rune praised Novak Djokovic for his willingness to share his experience and knowledge with rising stars such as him. Over this past weekend, Rune had a chance to spend some time with Djokovic on a practice court at the ATP Finals in Turin.

A tennis fan tweeted: "Novak should know better than to give free lessons to this kid ! Kids learn fast and then Novak's gonna wonder: why is this teenager beating me??" Rune responded: "Contributing to the next generations shows true greatness."

Rune beat Djokovic for the biggest title of his career

Just a week earlier, Rune stunned Djokovic 3-6 6-3 7-5 in the Paris Masters final to win his first Masters title.

En route to winning Paris, Rune defeated five top-10 players. Rune could not be any happier after stunning Djokovic for his first Masters title. “To beat Novak. To be able to beat him in such occasion, in the final is probably the best feeling of this whole week.

It was also important for me to beat Felix and Alcaraz and these guys. But still, to be able to beat Novak, he’s probably one of the greatest we have ever had in this sport. It’s a crazy feeling," Rune said after winning Paris.

After the final, Djokovic praised Rune and the Dane's fighting spirit and resilience. Down by a set to Djokovic in a Masters final, some would think there was no coming back. But Rune believed that he could beat Djokovic and he managed to do so.

"What impressed me more was his fighting spirit and his composure. He had the week of his life, he deserved it. I had so many chances. There was some of these moments where matches chose a side. He was brave and I was not active enough in these moments," Djokovic said of Rune.
