Taylor Fritz admitted he was "extremely upset" after losing to Novak Djokovic but also noted that the Serb is still a very dominant figure in the game. On Saturday, Fritz was beaten by Djokovic in tight two sets as the Serb won 7-6 (5) 7-6 (6) to progress into the final at the ATP Finals.
"Right now, I'm extremely upset about the match. But I'm sure that two weeks from now, I will see it as a good week," Fritz said, per Tennis Majors.

Still, he managed to win a Grand Slam and a Masters title this year. "When Novak Djokovic has played in 2022, he’s been the best player. No doubt. When he hasn’t played, which is a lot of the year, we’ve seen a lot of different results because when you take him out of the equation, I think everybody else playing is extremely close," Fritz explained.

Taylor Fritz disappointed he didn't get the job done versus Novak Djokovic
Fritz was down by a break in the first set but he managed to recover and force a tie-break.
In the first set tie-break, Fritz had a 5-4 lead but then lost the next three points and the first set. In the second set, Fritz was up by a break and had a chance to serve out for the set in the 10th game. But Fritz didn't manage to serve out for the second set as another tie-break was seen.
In the second set tie-break, Fritz saved one match point but couldn't save the second as Djokovic escaped with a tight two-set win. “Typically I'm good at tie-breakers. I feel like my tie-breaker record throughout my career has definitely been really good.
Today I played both tie-breakers pretty well. I'm right there. It's small margins in tennis. It's always like that. It's very small margins. [I] just need to get that little bit better and I'm right there," Fritz said.
