Kim Clijsters thinks it is pretty clear that Novak Djokovic is "a favorite to win" wherever he goes. Djokovic, who is bidding to win a record 23rd Grand Slam title at the French Open, has been through to the semifinal at Roland Garros.

Although Djokovic probably didn't play his best tennis in the first week of the French Open, he was still able to routinely make the second week and the latter stage at Roland Garros. Clijsters, a former four-time Grand Slam champion, says that's one of the most impressive things about Djokovic.

In the French Open semifinal, Djokovic will be taking on top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz.

Clijsters: Djokovic is always a favorite

"Novak is a favorite wherever he goes. I love Novak and I've watched his matches, it's really great to watch him somehow manage to raise the level of his game one step higher in each new set or match.

He may not have played his best tennis in the first week, but he played well enough to win. That's why Novak is actually Novak, that's why he's great. Even though he's not playing at his highest level, even though he's sometimes nervous about his performance, even though he's not happy with his movement or hitting, he finds a way to win.

At that age to be at that level is super cool to see," Clijsters told Telegraf. Djokovic has had one four-set match at this year's French Open but his road to the semifinal definitely hasn't been the smoothest. Djokovic made a slow start to his French Open quarterfinal match as Karen Khachanov was up by a set and forced a second-set tie-break before the Serb managed to turn the things around and win 4-6 7-6 (0) 6-2 6-4.

Now, Djokovic is set to face Alcaraz, who is looking great. It remains to be seen if Djokovic can beat Alcaraz and ultimately lift his third French Open title.
