Ahmad Nassar, the executive director of the PTPA (founded by Novak Djokovic to protect players' rights), accused WTA of not condemning the "unfair" manner Simona Halep has been treated in justice. Halep hasn't received a verdict on her Roxadustat doping case since last year's US Open.
"Agree that it’s a disgrace. Patently unfair to @Simona_Halep, her family, team, and fans. However, I am not surprised that the tour hasn’t spoken out on this. The tours long ago abdicated their responsibilities towards the players here.
This is just one example of why claiming to adequately represent the players & tournaments simultaneously simply does not work. And one reason why player leaders decided to create @ptpaplayers in the mold of other sports," Ahmad Nassar wrote on X.
The PTPA announced their support for Simona Halep immediately after Halep got accused. "The Professional Tennis Players Association takes a stand in the affair involving Simona Halep.Agree that it’s a disgrace. Patently unfair to @Simona_Halep, her family, team, and fans. We are committed to ensuring a fair reminder and a complete trial," the organization announced in a press release.
Simona Halep just found out her verdict got delayed again
Although the verdict on Simona Halep's doping case has been postponed numerous times, it got delayed once more.
"Today I found out that the decision in my case, which was expected this week, will be further delayed. This is terribly disappointing, as I have consistently said that all I ask for is to be judged. It is hard to explain the emotional toll that all of these delays have had and continue to have on me," Halep wrote on Instagram on September 1st.
