Novak Djokovic says "special guy" Carlos Alcaraz is "going to carry tennis" for many years and also declared the Spaniard "a perfect ambassador" for tennis. At 20, Alcaraz has already accomplished great success in tennis, having won two Grand Slam titles and been to the world No 1 ranking multiple times already.

Djokovic, 36, won three Grand Slams this year but Alcaraz prevented him from winning Wimbledon. When the Big Three are all officially gone, the general expectation is that Alcaraz will be the one who is going to be the face of tennis.

Djokovic: If he continues like this, Alcaraz is going to carry tennis

“Carlos is already at that level. It’s only a few years that he has been playing on the top level & he is already a two-time Grand Slam winner, number one in the world.

It's amazing to achieve so much so far, just at 19 or 20 years of age. He is the youngest number one in the world to finish number one at the end of the season. You can say he is a special guy, no doubt about it that he has an incredible career ahead of him if he stays healthy, if he continues to maintain this level of tennis.

It's not going to be guaranteed that you make the history of the sport because you have thousands of other players who would want to beat him. But he is one of the most impressive players I have faced in my life. No doubt, complete in every aspect & also a very nice guy, a great family, a great team so he is a perfect ambassador of our sport so far and if he is going to continue like this, he is going to carry tennis," Djokovic said of Alcaraz, via The Tennis Letter.

In the remainder of the year, Djokovic and Alcaraz will battle for the ATP Finals title and the world No 1 ranking.
