Holger Rune and Novak Djokovic shared a warm moment at the net following their Paris Masters quarterfinal match. On Friday night in Paris, Djokovic, 36, defeated 20-year-old Rune 7-5 6-7 (3) 6-4. Djokovic, who was beaten by Rune in a thriller 2022 Paris final, got his revenge by beating the Dane at Bercy this year.

Moments after the match was over, Rune showed major respect and appreciation for Djokovic. "You're amazing, man," Rune could be heard telling Djokovic at the net. Djokovic responded by patting Rune on the shoulder and telling him: "Thank you."

Djokovic got his revenge against Rune

Last year, Djokovic was up by a set in the Paris final before Rune stormed back to stun the Serb and win his first Masters title.

This time, Djokovic won a tight first set before Rune saved a match point in the second set en route to forcing a decider. However, Djokovic was able to keep his focus after not realizing a match point as the Serb broke Rune in the third game of the third set.

Up by an early break, Djokovic held on to his service for the remainder of the match to complete a three-set win. "It was quite a similar match to last year's final, it was anybody's game in every set. I played an awful tie-break in the second set, probably the worst one this year.

But again credit to him for staying mentally tough and playing solid. We have similar games. Move well, defend well and all-round players," Djokovic said. In late October, Rune announced Djokovic's ex-coach Boris Becker as his new coach.

After the match, Djokovic admitted it felt strange seeing Becker sitting in his rival's box. "He has been playing much better in the past few weeks since working with Boris. It was strange seeing Boris in the opposing box. I wish Holger and him all the best," Djokovic said.
