Andy Roddick is tipping Novak Djokovic to win the 2024 Australian Open and says he will continue to "boringly" predict the Serb winning the biggest titles until someone gives him a good reason to do otherwise. After correctly predicting Djokovic's ATP Finals win, 2003 US Open champion Roddick was asked to give his take on who would win the 2024 Australian Open.
Following Djokovic's ATP Finals win and his three Grand Slam triumphs in 2023, Roddick says the safest bet remains tipping the Serb to continue winning on the biggest stage. "It's my boring prediction again, I'm just gonna keep doing it because I just said yesterday and three days ago that I'm not going to bet against Novak Djokovic.
It doesn't mean I don't believe someone else has a chance but I will not put my money against Djokovic. Certainly haven't changed my mind after the last couple of days and what we saw against Alcaraz and Sinner, I go Novak," Roddick said on Tennis Channel.
Roddick correctly predicted Djokovic's ATP Finals win
After correctly predicting Djokovic's win over Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal in Turin, Roddick issued the exact same prediction for the Djokovic and Jannik Sinner final. "You can just cut and paste my answer from yesterday where I said that for the last decade I haven't bet against Novak and until further notice I'm not going to.
Listen, someone might sneak a win in here and there, Sinner obviously beat him three days ago and this is no disrespect to the way Sinner's been playing this week," Roddick said on Tennis Channel when asked to predict the winner of the match between Djokovic and Sinner.
After Roddick predicted that Djokovic would win the final, Djokovic did exactly that as the world No 1 saw off Sinner 6-3 6-3. It remains to be seen if Djokovic can win the 2024 Australian Open and give Roddick another correct prediction.
