The dynamics that led to the unfortunate accident involving Novak Djokovic, who was hit by a canteen at the end of the match won by Serbian against Corentin Moutet, in the second round of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, has been clarified. Nole, who had stopped to sign autographs with the crowd in the stands, was hit violently on the head by a canteen, which caused a cut that caused the Serbian to lose blood. Initially it was not known whether the gesture of the spectators present on the Central Court of the Foro Italico had been voluntary or accidental.

A video clarified the dynamics of the incident by showing the water bottle accidentally falling from a fan's backpack and hitting the Serbian champion on the head. Djokovic collapsed on the ground for a few seconds before receiving treatment from medical staff. Nole later returned to the locker room with a plaster on his head. Djokovic himself took care of extinguishing any controversy, despite the fact that it is an episode that must not happen for any reason, through a post X, to reassure everyone and explain the situation.

"Thank you for the messages of concern. It was an accident and I'm fine as I rest in the hotel with an ice pack on my head. See you all on Sunday!"

Nole will challenge Alejandro Tabilo to try to reach the 4th round of the tournament. The Chilean is fresh from the success achieved at the Challenger in Aix-en-Provence.

But as I said at the  beginning of my article, what happened on the Central Court of the Foro Italico at the end of the match between Djokovic and Moutet is truly unacceptable. A new video published by SportKlub journalist Sasa Ozmo has clarified the dynamics of the facts. One of the boys intent on asking for an autograph accidentally lost his water bottle from his backpack. Water bottle that eventually fell right on the Serbian's head. This is an unfortunate episode but it should make us reflect on the attention to be paid in this type of situation. The board of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia published a statement explaining that Djokovic is well but that he would not take part in the press conference.

"Novak Djokovic, upon leaving the Central Court at the end of his match, was hit on the head with a water bottle while he was signing autographs for the spectators. He was subjected to the necessary medications, he has already left the Foro Italico to return to the hotel, his condition are not of concern," they wrote.
