The second Grand Slam of the season, Roland Garros, was not without controversy, a tournament that received criticism from some players for the state of the courts, asking that they be swept more regularly during matches.

One of these players was the champion of 24 Majors, Novak Djokovic, who expressed his thoughts during and after his last match in the tournament against the Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo, in the frame of the round of 16.

Djokovic asked the tournament supervisor to sweep the court, but his request was not granted, a duel where the Serbian suffered a massive fall that could have caused the rupture of the medial meniscus of the right knee, which he was operated on last week in Paris.

"I’m just trying to understand: If a player feels a certain way, what else do we have to wait for that to happen? I mean, I got injured today. Yeah, I survived. I won the game.

Great. But will I be able to play the next one?" Djokovic explained. "I don’t know. I don’t know how bad the injury is. But could this injury have been avoided? Possibly, if the track had been taken a little more care during the set," the Serbian added.

In a recent interview at Queen’s Club, Taylor Fritz talked about Novak Djokovic: “I told him what it was like for me. A lot of it comes down to the inflammation and how you react.

You pretty much have your full strength immediately. It’s more just the inflammation from the surgery. As long as you can get that down and start playing without it puffing up again, you’re actually going to be fine to play.

I was doing three-four hours of PT, a lot of icing, trying to stick to a diet which was not going to cause extra inflammation because I was real determined to play Wimbledon.”
