Novak Djokovic has released the first interesting statements after arriving in London to prepare for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. The Serbian champion explained that - lthough many believe it is not a wise choice - he wants to try to play the London Slam, if his physical conditions allow it.

"It's great to be back. The plan, from the beginning, was to try to play Wimbledon - that's what I'm trying to do. That's why I came here first, to see how things go. A lot of people think maybe it's not realistic or at least not intelligent, but I wouldn't be here if I hadn't gotten permission from the medical staff," said Nole, as reported by the Daily Express.

Djokovic specified that he will make the final decision before the draw so as not to alter the seeding order and to show respect to his colleagues.

"I'm very happy with how things are going. I'm not pushing 100% yet, but I can't. I hope I can do that in the next few days. The rehabilitation has been going in the right direction every single day. I'll make a decision based on how things go in the next four or five days. Will I only play if I think I'll win? Of course, that's why I'm here. I didn't come just to play a few rounds. I have no intention of retiring from tennis yet, so it wouldn't be my last Wimbledon. I will make the decision before the draw so I can be honest towards the other players. Of course, everything is unpredictable. I don't know what might happen once the tournament starts," he told.

Eighteen days after undergoing knee surgery due to the meniscus injury suffered at Roland Garros, Djokovic has meanwhile reached the All England Club to try to take the  court at Wimbledon. The Serbian champion has already carried out two training sessions in London and the sensations that filter through are optimistic. At the Championships, Nole is looking for his 8th title, which would allow him to match Roger Federer and surpass Margaret Smith, who is stuck with the Serb at 24 Majors.
