Novak Djokovic underlined at the Wimbledon media day how he absolutely did not want to give up the Championships and, in the end, the Serbian champion managed to achieve what he had worked for since the first day of rehabilitation. Nole is back in shape and has found an acceptable physical condition to face a tough best-of-five-set tournament like the Major competition scheduled in London. A very rapid recovery from surgery on the meniscus of his right knee, which allowed Djokovic to regularly participate in the third Slam of the season.

"When it happened, I made a very quick decision to undergo surgery. I had many doubts about the possibility of making it to Wimbledon. After long conversations with some athletes who have gone through similar experiences, (quoted Taylor Fritz, who after 21 days had played the first round in London, Stan Wawrinka and Lindsey Vonn - ed.), I gained confidence and optimism in the fact that, if the rehabilitation had gone well and if the knee responded correctly, there would have been the chances of playing," he told.

Nole, as the 2nd seed, will have to defend the final won last year. But this was not, of course, the main theme of the press conference. Journalists focused on the injury suffered by the 37-year-old from Belgrade at Roland Garros.

"It was a very good week of training. I had intense sessions, training with Sinner, Tiafoe, Medvedev, Ruusuvuori and today also Rune. The knee responded well to everything, which is a good sign for my participation in the tournament. This convinced me to stay registered in the main draw. I still have a couple of days, I'll play on Tuesday. I am confident, my general physical condition is very good," he added.
