Novak Djokovic reached Wimbledon’s fourth round yesterday. The Serbian champion defeated Aussie Alexei Popyrin for a place in the round of 16. The native of Belgrade feels fit even if he still notes a lack of level: "I feel fit.

But I feel that my injury has an impact on my mobility, a small impact in terms of speed. I’m not where I want to be yet, I’m still a little late on balls that I’m not used to miss.

I think that’s the part I’m going to win over the games. The longer I stay in this tournament, the better my mobility will be. In the first laps, I’m still a little rusty in terms of mobility, that’s what I felt today.

I’m not afraid of hurting my knee again. I don’t have the time or the energy to think about it, and I don’t think it’s worth it. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think I was ready to compete at this level."

Novak Djokovic also became the sixth player in history to surpass 1000 aces at Wimbledon along with Roger Federer, Goran Ivanisevic, Pete Sampras, John Isner and Ivo Karlovic. The world number two doesn’t feel any knee pain, which is amazing when you know he had surgery less than a month ago: "I didn’t feel any pain, which is great.

In the first game, I felt a slight pain in some situations, but today I felt nothing, which is great. My knee reacts well on rest days too.

I didn’t have any swelling, which is perfect. This is part of the process of the first days, in the first two or three matches, it makes sense that I have to accept everything as part of the process. The muscles around the knee compensate and protect the knee and need more work, maybe it doesn’t give me the speed and dynamic strength I need yet, but I want to build from there and I’m confident.”
